A practical three-stage business start-up process

Our practical three-stage business start-up process has been designed to inspire and support individuals with viable business ideas to move into sustainable employment and establish successful business ventures.

Stage 1 - Introduction to Enterprise

This 3 hour workshop is open to anyone exploring whether self-employment or starting a business is the best option for them.

At the end of this workshop, an adviser will be able to assess the viability of your business idea to develop an action plan of practical steps for you. If appropriate, you may also enrol onto a Stage 2, Business Planning workshop.

Stage 2 - Business Planning

This 5 hour intensive workshop is designed for people who have viable business ideas or proposal and need support to guiding them through the process of writing a compelling business plan.

This may be used to show banks, investors or simply to use it as a road map of where you, and your business expect to be in the future.

The plan may outline how much funding you need to set it up, what your sales will be and how much cash you will need to run the business throughout the year.

To be eligible to attend this free business planning workshop you will need to have attended an Introduction to Enterprise workshop.

Stage 3 - Specialist Business Mentoring

Through a series of one-to-one business mentoring sessions, our experienced Business Advisers will help you to turn your business idea into a sustainable business venture. We can help you with the following areas:

  • Forming a company or registering as self-employed
  • Reviewing your business plan
  • Guidance on financial forecasts
  • Conducting market research and test trading
  • Choosing the best legal structure & tax implications
  • Developing marketing strategies and sales tactics
  • Sourcing finance and funding

Please note that there is a cost to access this service unless you are based in the London boroughs of Southwark and Lewisham.
